We follow a proven, proprietary process designed to bring out the best version of your book—while ensuring that it remains entirely your ideas, written in your words, and expressed in your unique voice. The entire process typically takes 9 months, provided the author stays on track with the schedule.
he first step before starting your book is ensuring you truly have a book inside you and whether our process is the right fit for your needs.
You’ll have a conversation with an Author Strategist who will help clarify three key areas:
Your book idea
The audience you aim to reach and how your book will serve them
The goals you wish to achieve with your book (such as building your brand or generating revenue)
Note: This isn’t a sales call—it’s about confirming if we are the right fit for your project. If we find we’re not the best match, we’ll refer you to another service that can meet your needs.
Meet Your Publishing Manager
Your journey begins with your Publishing Manager, who will be your main point of contact throughout the process. They’ll assemble a dedicated creative team to bring your vision to life.
At American Legacy Publishers, your Publishing Manager ensures your book meets the highest standards and is delivered on schedule. During your initial call, they’ll gather key details to match you with the ideal writer for your project.
Our professional writers—known as Scribes—bring a wealth of experience, including backgrounds as Executive Editors, award-winning authors, political speechwriters, and even Pulitzer Prize winners.
When matching a Scribe to your book, we ask:
Are they genuinely excited about the project?
What unique value can they bring to your story?
For more information, please visit our FAQs.
In your first call with your writer, the “North Star” of your book will be defined. This is where we dive deeper to:
Clearly articulate what your book is about
Define your target audience
Understand how your book will serve this audience and why they’ll be interested
Determine how your book will benefit you personally and professionally
Once your book’s concept is fully defined, your writer will develop a Table of Contents and a Book “Roadmap.” This will serve as a guide for your interviews, helping you clarify your ideas, refine your thinking, and lay the foundation for the book.
Sample questions you may encounter while building the Roadmap:
What does your audience need to understand?
Are there steps to guide them? What are they?
What stories and examples will support your points?
The interviews are the core of your book, where your content, stories, and knowledge come to life. During these 90-120 minute calls, your writer will interview you about specific chapters, typically over 4-6 calls. You can expect to cover 1-2 chapters per call.
You’ll receive “Preview Pages” early on in the process, helping us refine the voice and tone of your book before it’s fully written.
Using the transcripts from the interviews, your writer will craft a beautifully written manuscript that captures your voice. They’ll start by writing a single chapter and review it with you to ensure they’ve captured the right tone. Once agreed upon, the rest of the manuscript will be completed.
After the first draft, you’ll collaborate with your writer through one full round of revisions. You’ll read through the chapters, make notes, and schedule calls to discuss your feedback.
The same team that’s designed covers for bestselling authors will handle your book’s design.
You’ll start by sharing your vision for the book’s look and feel. Our team will then create design options that align with your vision.
You’ll have the final say on all design decisions, from the cover to the interior layout.
As your release date approaches, we’ll help you prepare for the launch by providing social media graphics, email templates, and exclusive access to marketing tools.
During the launch, we’ll coordinate a pricing campaign on Amazon, a review campaign, and a media push to maximize your book’s visibility.
The goal is to ensure a successful launch, with a solid foundation of reviews, readers, and media exposure to support the continued growth of your book and your career as a published author.

Yes, you are the sole author of your book, and it is entirely in your voice. The book is created through interviews with you—you contribute all the ideas, knowledge, and content. If you choose our Guided Author Program, you’ll also write the book yourself. Our role is to assist with the parts of book writing you’re less familiar with, such as positioning, structuring, and refining the manuscript.
